This and That

This has been a crazy busy couple of weeks. Thank goodness for Sunday when things are a bit quieter. I have to brag about T-man for a minute, he found out this week that he got accepted as a Sherpa program which means he will be mentoring 1st year MBA students next year. They were selected on seven different criteria and his chance of getting it was 30% due to the high number of applicants. He also got elected to be OB/HR vice president of Alumni Relations. Two highlights for him in the gloom of more assignments due than he has time for.

Poor Gracie is driving us crazy lately, first with a yucky cold/eye infection and second with teething (cutting 5 teeth) I thought I saw a sixth one today! Letty is loving her new do, I think she enjoys not having to sit for so long to get her hair done :)

Pics from the last couple of weeks (mostly for the benefit of Grandmas :)

Big Day and "Locks of Love"

For about a month now Letty has been asking me to get her hair cut. I was resistant to this idea. I have only given her trims and love her long hair (although it gets lots of tangles). She and T-man finally persuaded me after she reminded me "it will grow back mom". She was obviously not the one having a problem with this :) So today we went to get a cut! After talking about it she decided to donate her hair to "Locks of Love" (10 inches) in case you don't know, they make wigs for underprivileged children who have lost their hair from medical treatments.

She had the "princess" treatment full with smelly shampoo and a blow dryer.
She is very happy and excited about it. She sat surprisingly still and earned a sucker. She wanted it to her shoulders but it turned out shorter than than. The hair stylish apologized for it being shorter, I guess Letty had her head tilted when she made the first cut, oops! She also told us that Letty had the longest and thickest hair of any four year old she has seen, special!

Back Home

We are excited to have our T-man back from an 11 day excursion to Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. He was doing some work for Honeywell as part of a field study class (and since his group was the only to get to travel itnernational, he had a very coveted study).
These are some Singapore pics they are also the ones that got sent out in the Picasa Album: Picasa Web Albums - Sharla - Singapore

While he was gone I was camera-less and therefore cannot show you all of the "fun" things I did while he was away. We attended an MBA talent show and BYU basketball game with some SIL's and their significance's. I took the girls to church ALONE; I will think long and hard about doing that one again! We also played at the mall and playground.

My MIL came down and stayed with us for a few days which was very helpful. We went up to SLC to stay with my SIL and her family. It was tons fun and lots of cousin play time.

T-man has less than a month of school left so it will be crazy times for him as far as the work load goes. We have yet to find our summer housing, which is occupying much of my free time. It is such a chore looking! (sigh)
Gracie has yet to walk, little scardy cat!

I SPY

Well...we spied Walter Wick, the creator of the "I Spy" books. He came to campus for the opening of his art display.

It was fun exploring the gallery and hearing him speak about the "making of" his books. He shared some of his secrets such as glueing his items to glass. T and I thought it was fun, but Letty was a little put out that he wasn't calling on her to answer questions she didn't know the answer to :). Meanwhile Gracie was trying to escape (it was geared for kids 8+).

We took advantage of the last free zoo day of the season. It was CRAZY! all of those nutty people trying to take advantage of free stuff ;)

The carousel is the best part, right?

So we went to the park this week and got there a little early, before our friends. There were no other kids there so I was forced to "play". Oh, wow! I don't know when the last time any of you tried to go across the monkey bars or flip on the bars but let me tell you it was exciting! If I had a video I would post it because I looked pretty silly. I must say it rekindled the child in me and I found myself full of energy.

Gracie's favorite thing, right next to trying to get behind the computer desk to play with cords :0

Parties

For Valentine's/Presidents Day weekend we headed up to the Lovell Ranch. It was a good time with cousins, snowmobiling, sledding, and Letty braving the zip line. It was probably our last major snow outing for the season (not that I'm broken up about it :) ) Spring is in the air! We actually went to the park the other day it was so sunny and nice out. I am starting to get that Spring itch where you crave the sun and warmth. Later in the week the MBASA had an outing to Cabela's to have a tour. The "guide" did not specialize in preschoolers but they had a good time anyway. Saturday was a Lovell/Woodbury cousin party to celebrate all of the Birthday's (most of them falling in Feb.) It was a fun girls night out including a gourmet potluck and lots of chatting and laughing.

Last Week

We had the opportunity to take Letty to the Draper Temple open house. She was so excited to go "inside" the temple. It was also the first open house I've been to. It was fun. We met a couple of T-man's sisters and our niece there. Later we took the girls to the Church History Museum, they have a fun kid section. Someone told us that it was like walking into a giant "Friend" Magazine, which is pretty accurate.

Gracie is thinking about walking and cutting three more teeth. Letty is loving dance and Preschool and loves to do anything "creative." T-man is just plunking away at school and we are looking for housing in NYC. We are both recovering from yucky colds, you always appreciate being well so much more after sickness.

Happy Birthday!

Happy First Birthday K. I love this age! They are growing and leaning so much yet they don't get into too much trouble :) Our little girl is such a joy, and delight. I have loved every second of her. So Today we are blessed to celebrate her birth. K (Gracie) you have brought nothing but hope, light, and love into our lives. We love you and couldn't imagine our lives without you.
